A large turnout yesterday at the Auditorium of the Renzo Deaglio Civic Library in Alassio for the roundtable discussion "Scarred Beauty. A Heritage to Defend", the first supplementary activity of the 2025-2026 school year, sponsored by the Municipality's Department of Education.

The initiative, organized by the Enzo Hruby Foundation—a long-standing organization dedicated to protecting Italy's cultural heritage against theft, theft, vandalism, and damage, and to promoting a culture of safety—was held under the patronage of the Municipality of Alassio and ICOM Liguria.

The meeting, dedicated to third- and fifth-year students at the Giancardi-Galilei-Aicardi Institute and the Salesian Don Bosco Institute in Alassio, focused on the sadly current phenomenon of vandalism against cultural heritage. This was addressed with a practical approach aimed at prevention through a culture of safety, with particular attention to the value of current technologies and the role young people can play as active custodians of beauty.

The meeting, thanks to the intervention of Alessandra Ricci, was an opportunity to get to know up close and delve into what has been defined as an extraordinary example of protection and enhancement: that of Silvia Arnaud Ricci and Antonio Ricci towards Villa della Pergola and its marvelous Gardens, named in 2022 "Most beautiful park in Italy" and today a partner garden of the Royal Horticultural Society, whose Patron is King Charles of England.

After the institutional greetings of the mayor of Alassio Marco Melgrati, the President of the City Council in charge of School Policies Fabio Macheda and the regional and municipal councilor Rocco Invernizzi, the round table discussion took place, moderated by the journalist Maria Gramaglia, which saw, among the speakers, Isabella Hruby, head of project coordination and institutional relations of the Enzo Hruby Foundation, Maj. Alessandro Caprio, commander of the Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Genoa, Stefano Smorfa, technical consultant of the Enzo Hruby Foundation, Alessandro De Blasi, contact person for ICOM Liguria and that of Alessandra Ricci of the Gardens of Villa della Pergola.
